Sub-Antarctic over wintering

Relief voyages to replenish supplies and to exchange personnel take place annually. These voyages are undertaken by the DEA&T research and supply ship, the mv S.A. Agulhas.
These voyages usually takes place in September. En route from Cape Town to Gough Island the Agulhas has a two day stop over at Tristan da Cunha to transfer passengers and cargo. The round trip Cape Town - Tristan da Cunha - Gough Island - Tristan da Cunha - Cape Town usually takes 30 days.

Although team members joins the SANAP programmes for various reasons they all share some common traits. Amongst these are a strong sense of adventure, a belief in themselves and a very strong sense of independence.
